The RCBND Scholarship Interviews by Dona and Sebastian
Date: 14th June, 2023
Location: SMKN1 South Kuta

On June 14th, 2023, it was far from just another ordinary Wednesday. Dona and Sebastian, members of the Rotary Club Bali Nusa Dua (RCBND) Scholarship Project team, set off on a mission: to interview and select twenty deserving students to receive the esteemed RCBND High School Scholarships. This was no easy task! They were challenged with interviewing a staggering seventy students from SMKN 1 South Kuta, each one eager to secure their future with this extraordinary opportunity.
The day was meticulously planned - interviewing seventy students is indeed no small undertaking. It was a marathon of motivation and aspiration, starting at 10 am and not concluding until a solid six hours later at 4 pm. Even lunch was a brief affair, just enough to refuel and continue with the task at hand.

All are concentrated!! 🤯
The students, each hailing from underprivileged families with a minimum parental income of 3 million, ranking from 1-5 in their class, or being orphans or achievers in school subjects or sports, were asked a range of questions. These queries were designed to understand their life perspectives, their ambitions, and their motivations for seeking the scholarship.
Dona and Sebastian listened as the students spoke passionately about their chosen majors at school, their parents' jobs and income, their living conditions, and their dreams and desires.
Every student had a story to tell, and each story was a testament to their drive to succeed and their unwavering spirit.

It almost became a kiss on the hand for Dona. So cute !
As for dreams, they asked students about their dream jobs, and the answers were as varied as they were inspiring.
From aspirations to become General Managers at 5-star hotels, to becoming the Head of Engineering, to working on a cruise ship, to becoming a successful businesswoman - each dream painted a vivid picture of determination and ambition.
However, one answer stood out for its uniquely charming and candid nature. One student, passionate about the automotive industry, expressed his desire to become a content creator of social media. His reasoning? Quite straightforward: He not only enjoys it, but he also firmly believes he could earn a substantial income from it. Not to mention, he's quite talented in creating content for the automotive field. Now, there's a modern dream job, with a clear emphasis on the financial upside!
Despite the demanding day, it was truly rewarding for Dona and Sebastian to see the enthusiasm and dedication of these young students. Their eagerness for learning, their compelling stories, and their hopeful dreams served as a reminder of the difference initiatives like the RCBND High School Scholarships can make.
We can't wait to see what these young dreamers will achieve in the future!

Full house!
All in all, it was a day filled with laughter, learning, and a whole lot of inspiration. As we wrap up this account of the day's events, the Rotary Club Bali Nusa Dua would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to Dona and Sebastian for their time and efforts. Their dedicated work and the concentrated efforts they put in this day have made a significant difference in the lives of these students. Their commitment is a testament to the spirit of service that Rotary Club stands for.
Here's to our future leaders, content creators, engineers, and business moguls!
