Orphan Christmas Party
Ok, you’re all dressed up and ready to go and party.... But with all the celebrity galas
and exclusive parties held on Bali each year, which is the best party? Hands down and without any doubt the most eagerly anticipated party is RC Bali Nusa Dua’s Annual Orphanage Christmas Party at the Grand Hyatt Bali.
Each December since 1992 the Club has partnered with the Grand Hyatt Bali to host a Christmas Party for some 350 orphans and physically handicapped children aged 6 to12 years from all corners of Bali.
Waking early (some children are from as far away as Singaraja) the children are
transported to Nusa Dua and escorted on the ‘red carpet’ into the luxurious world of the Grand Hyatt Bali for one glorious day as the hotel’s celebrity guests.
Open to children of all faiths, the party is a fabulous afternoon of cake and cookie
decorating, fishing for prizes, face painting, hot dogs, hamburgers, fried rice and ice cream, ice cream and even more ice cream!
Whether it is the deaf children from SLB-B, children from Kolewa recovering from a cleft lip and palate surgery, Yayasan Pendidikan “Dria-Rab” (School for the Blind), TPA Suwung Community Centre (children living in Bali’s waste landfill) or La Rosin, an orphanage in nearby Balangan to name a few - all participate in the day’s entertainment, which includes singing, dancing or showing off other skills - even wheel chair break-dancing!
And it wouldn’t be a Christmas party without Santa Claus... So of course Santa stops by early to give each child a school backpack full of school supplies, health supplies and other goodies supplied by the members of Rotary Club Bali Nusa Dua.
So ... once again thanks to all the wonderful folks who have helped us over the years with donations and gifts.
